Every time we see one of our patients doing well after surgery, the joy is truly special. Today, that joy has a name: Mrs. Mavriki. ❤️
At the age of 48, Mrs. Mavriki was diagnosed with severe mitral valve regurgitation, a condition in which the valve does not close properly, causing some of the blood to flow backwards within the heart.
In her case, her own mitral valve was successfully repaired, without the need for replacement. The procedure was performed using a minimally invasive technique, through a small incision on the side of the chest and without opening the sternum, contributing to earlier mobilisation and recovery. Minimally invasive cardiac surgery is an important part of our practice and is used whenever possible, always taking into consideration the individual needs and characteristics of each patient.
From the moment we first met her through to her recovery, Mrs. Mavriki faced every step of this journey with strength, positivity and a smile.
And perhaps this is one of the most rewarding parts of our work: seeing someone we first met during a difficult moment doing well again and returning to their life and everyday routine.
