✨ The Pillow After Heart Surgery

After a cardiac surgery, patients often keep a small pillow — which we at the hospital call a “baby” — on their chest. And it’s not just for comfort! This little pillow supports, protects, and brings relief during the first days of recovery.

Why do we hold it?

  • Supports the chest when you cough, sneeze, or move

  • Reduces pain and helps you feel more secure

  • Helps with breathing and makes coughing easier and less uncomfortable

  • Gives a sense of safety and comfort during recovery

💡Tip: Hold it gently, keep it close when you cough or get up, and use it for support when turning or sitting in bed.

Every breath, every movement becomes easier with a little support — your little pillow is there to help you along.
