🎉 The Cardiac Innovation Center celebrates 4 years of pioneering in Cardiac Surgery

With words full of gratitude, our patients describe their experience as “a second chance at life.” Four years after the establishment of the Cardiac Surgery Clinic at the Cardiac Innovation Center of Apollonio Private Hospital, each operation continues to represent a promise of hope, determination, and the highest standard of medical and nursing care.

On July 15th, 2025, the Cardiac Innovation Center of Apollonio Private Hospital marks four years of dynamic presence, having established itself as the largest and most specialized cardiac surgery center in Cyprus.

It is the only center in the country that covers the full spectrum of cardiac surgery for patients of all ages, implementing cutting-edge techniques such as minimally invasive (endoscopic) procedures aimed at faster recovery and minimizing surgical trauma.

✨ During this journey:

• We provided medical consultations to more than 2,500 patients

• Over 1,050 surgeries were performed for adults with acquired heart diseases

• Over 200 surgeries were performed for congenital heart defects in children and adults

• We provided specialized support for more than 65 pediatric cardiology cases

🏥 New Cardiac Surgical Intensive Care Unit (Heart ICU)

A major milestone is the creation of an autonomous Cardiac Surgical Intensive Care Unit, specially designed to provide safe post-operative care for children and adults undergoing cardiac surgery.This 7-bed unit meets the strictest international standards and is staffed by a specialized and dedicated team.

The Center has also been enhanced with an ECMO system (extracorporeal circulation and oxygenation support), offering advanced capabilities for managing complex cases within a collaborative heart team approach.Close cooperation with the hospital’s cardiology and vascular surgery teams, as well as the neurology and surgical departments, ensures holistic and coordinated care.

Access through GHS (GeSY)

Based on an agreement with the Health Insurance Organization (HIO), all pediatric cardiac surgeries and surgeries for adults are covered by the General Healthcare System (GeSY).
