October 16: World Restart a Heart Day

šŸ’“Today is dedicated to raising awareness and training in CPR – cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

Cardiac arrest can happen suddenly, to anyone, anywhere. In these critical moments, acting quickly and starting CPR until medical help arrives can make the difference between life and death.

šŸ‘‰ Learn the basic steps to save a life:

1ļøāƒ£ Check responsiveness

Tap the shoulders and shout loudly: ā€œAre you okay?ā€

2ļøāƒ£ Call 112

Ask for help immediately and inform them that there is a possible cardiac arrest.

3ļøāƒ£ Check breathing (up to 10 seconds)

šŸ‘€ Look for chest movement

šŸ‘‚ Listen for breathing sounds

āœ‹ Feel for air from the mouth/nose

4ļøāƒ£ Start chest compressions

Place your hands in the center of the chest

šŸ’¢ Push hard and fast, 100–120 times per minute

šŸŽ¶ Think of the rhythm of Stayin’ Alive

5ļøāƒ£ Give 2 rescue breaths (if trained)

Tilt the head back, pinch the nose, seal with your mouth, and blow until you see the chest rise.

6ļøāƒ£ Continue the 30:2 cycle

Repeat 30 compressions and 2 breaths until help arrives.

✨ Performing CPR while waiting for medical assistance can significantly increase the chances of survival after cardiac arrest.
