❤️‍🩹Heart Journey

Mr. Gheorghe was referred to our care, diagnosed with severe mitral valve regurgitation. Clinically, he had been experiencing noticeable fatigue and shortness of breath during physical exertion. Given the severity of the condition and its symptomatic nature, surgical therapy was recommended.

Mitral valve regurgitation, often referred to as MR, is a heart valve disorder that involves the improper functioning of the mitral valve, one of the four valves of the heart. The mitral valve is located between the left atrium and the left ventricle and is responsible for regulating the flow of oxygen-rich blood from the lungs to the rest of the body. When MR occurs, this valve doesn't close properly during the heart's pumping cycle, leading to the backflow of blood from the left ventricle into the left atrium.

The indicated treatment for Mr. Gheorghe was a mitral valve repair using a minimally invasive technique. This approach is less invasive than conventional open-heart surgery and includes smaller incisions and specialized instruments, leading to quicker recoveries, shorter hospital stays, and decreased postoperative discomfort.

Following his surgical procedure, Mr. Gheorghe received close monitoring in our Heart Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for a few days before being moved to a standard hospital room. His recovery showed exceptional progress, as he was mobilized on the very first postoperative day with the assistance of our physiotherapist. This early mobilization serves as a vital milestone in the recovery process, reducing the risk of postoperative complications and promoting both physical and emotional well-being, thus expediting a return to an active, normal life. The fact that he was prepared to return home just five days after the surgery serves as a testament to the effectiveness of his recovery process.

It was truly delightful to reconnect with Mr. Gheorghe, who looked sharp in his stylish shirt, during his one-month postoperative check-up. His recovery remains highly impressive, with significant progress daily, assuring his continued well-being. His dedicated cardiologist will persist in monitoring his cardiac health, ensuring his sustained good health.

Mr. Gheorghe, it was a pleasure meeting you. Take good care!
