Academic Brilliance: Commencing his academic journey in 2008 at the esteemed University Medical School of Göttingen in Germany, Dr. Ioannou embarked on comprehensive medical training. His education traversed a diverse spectrum, encompassing all facets of surgical disciplines and internal medicine in praxis. From the outset of his medical studies, Dr. Ioannou demonstrated a distinctive affinity for surgery, accumulating valuable experiences in pediatric surgery, orthopedic surgery, vascular surgery, and cardiothoracic surgery.

His particular fascination with cardiothoracic surgery became evident during his elective rotation in the final medical year (practical year), during which he actively participated in the cardiothoracic and vascular surgery department. Concurrently, alongside his medical studies, Dr. Ioannou devoted his efforts to his doctoral thesis within the realm of surgical research, specifically in the biomaterial research department of the medical university hospital of Göttingen. In 2015, he successfully earned the title of Doctor of Medicine.

Specialization and Expertise: Dr. Ioannou's dedication to the field of cardiac surgery reached its zenith during his specialized training at the Heart Center Brandenburg spanning from 2015 to 2022. His proficiency extends across all adult cardiac procedures, contributing to the development of a well-rounded skill set. A significant turning point occurred in November 2021 when Dr. Ioannou expanded his professional horizons by affiliating with the German Heart Center in Munich. During this period, he focused on specializing and acquiring expertise in Pediatric and Congenital Cardiac Surgery. This strategic foray into the realm of pediatric and congenital heart surgery underscores his versatility and unwavering commitment to delivering comprehensive cardiac care that spans all age groups.

Dr. Ioannou's professional journey further exemplifies his dedication, passion, and compassion towards patient care. After his tenure in Germany, he has continued his pursuit of excellence in cardiac innovation and patient care by actively contributing to the Cardiac Innovation Center in Cyprus since August 2022.
